Discord

From Sajem Tan Wiki

We moved to the Internet Land of Discord on 1 Kižüt 38 from our second Skype home. As of this sentence being written (3 Divöm 6) we are still there and can be joined by directing your Discord client or the browser of your preferred internet-capable contraption to this link.

I don't know why we moved, since was away during the weeks surrounding the move. Perhaps others can fill in the gaps.

Deleted channels[edit]

These are channels that, for one reason or another, were deleted, but, for one reason or another, are still notable.

  • #music
    • Originally a place to discuss the musical tradition of Sajem Din, it was deleted because it just devolved into people sharing random music videos
  • #order-of-the-phenox
    • A channel created by Fern out of obsession for a typo Wind made (see Phenox, below). Fern defended this channel against attacks and critiquesnm but eventually defected to the Phenox server Fog made, allowing the channel to be deleted (after remaking it a bunch of times). This has, in fact, entered our mythology: Fern and the Order of the Phenox
  • #the-farm
    • When Fern found out about Strodlcoins, he wrote a script to post random strings of letters and words one after the other in order to farm for coins. This channel was deleted because it was too spammy. It also plays a minor role in Fern and the Order of the Phenox.
  • #dadjokes-and-markov
    • A channel that Divöm (Thunder) created as an experiment. All that would be allowed were the %dadjoke and &markov commands, but Thunder and Fog (and eventually Wind) got off track with a sharp turn into degenerativity, so Bird deleted it for some reason. It came back with a vengeance when Thunder created #degenerativity
  • #bread-catcher
    • When someone would edit or delete a post, a bot would re-post the original post here, so we could laugh at it. But we deleted it. See here.

Bots[edit]

We have a number of creatively-named bots on the server, too. Most of the names are inside jokes. Typically their activity should be restricted to #bot-spam, but, as with any other channel, we haven't been known to hold fast to that.

Encircling Walu[edit]

Encircling Walu is the name of MEE6 on the Sajem Tan Discord server. It takes its name from a misspelling in the Thesaurus.net entry for "big with child". Here is a detailed explanation of where we got the name "EncirclingWalu".

Enclosing Gnard[edit]

Enclosing Gnard is the name for Dynobot on the Sajem Tan Discord server. Its name comes from the same place as Encircling Walu (in this case, it is a typo for "enclosing guard"). We added Enclosing Gnard on 3 Divöm 27 (9 April 2018) because we wanted a Pear Wiggler command and we could not manage to make one with Encircling Walu.

The Wasphive[edit]

Main page: Cëmündin

See also: Javmyc kê Cëmündin

The Wasphive is the name of Strodl Bot on the Sajem Tan Discord Server. It was given to us on 3 Jidök 39 (19 June, 2018) by Javmyc (Maw) via Tytyt (Clover) after Maw left. The primary Wasphive features that we use are &markov, which generates random messages based on the previous messages within which ever channel we're in, and the various things having to do with the Strodl currency known as Potato (formerly known as Strodl Coins). It is called the Wasphive because Wind saw it as a stranger Wisdomful Beehive.

Macënak[edit]

Macënak is the name of the bot Tupperware on the Sajem Tan discord server. It is mainly used by Smym/Telzlnoln to let her headmates(the people she shares her body with) talk on the server. The name means "tupperware or similar container" from mac(plastic) and cënak(mason jar), but bears a similarity to macënâ(headmates), similar to how Tupperware resembles the outdated tern "tulpa"

Tatsumaki[edit]

Tatsumaki is another bot on the Sajem Tan server. Unlike the other bots, Tatsumaki does not have a nickname. Tatsumaki was added to trach the "scores" of members and how much they talk on the server, and was involved in the Search for the Fabled Tenth.

Dûdenfûmöt[edit]

df is the beating heart of the tribe pumping pasta and probably tomato sauce throughout our entire homeland
- Ţeţat (Wind), 10 May, 2020

Dûdenfûmöt is a bot created by Ţeţat (Wind).

Inside Jokes[edit]

We have many inside jokes on the Discord server that are not part of the actual culture of Sajem Tan. Still, many newcomers might be confused as to what we are going on about a lot of the time, so they are explained here.

Vysyrytâ[edit]

Vysyrytâ are alternative spelling systems meant or humorous purposes. The name comes from two sources: "VVysarde", the most popular vysyryt, and another vysyryt which involves replacing every vowel with <y>. Following is a list of spelling games found on the Sajem Tan server.

  • VVysarde, used only for English, meant to look like pseudo-Old/Middle English with a wizard aesthetic.
  • Next Key Tan, wherein the speaker types using the keys next to the keys necessary to type a word. So, for example, "hello" becomes "gwkki".
  • Foam Letter Tan, which is based on a picture Wind saw depicting foam letters put in the wrong spots.
  • Y Tan (or Y Tyn), wherein every vowels is replaced with ⟨y⟩.

NG Emoji[edit]

On Discord, you can react to a message with emojis; you click on the emoji and it appears right below the message. You cannot use the same emoji twice. On 3 Tërnön 28 (9 April, 2018), Ţeţat (Wind) once wanted to react to one of Milek (Fern)'s messages with letter emojis spelling "NO SHUT FERN", but he had already used the N emoji. In his desperation to find an alternative, he used the NG emoji. The result was "NO SHUT FERNG", and the usage of the NG emoji stuck as a comical replacement for the letter <n>, especially in names: so, you will occasionally see Fern called "Ferng", for example. This isn't an official part of Sajem Tan or its culture, and only three of us really ever use it.

Indeed[edit]

Fenöknacömţnu, that is, teasing people about their typos, is something a few tribemembers engage in with each other. This is primary in the direction of Fog to Wind. So, when Wind accidentally spelled "indeed" as "inded" on 2 Thefnolm 20 (March 3, 2018), it became a much bigger deal than it had to. Then, on 3 Jidök 36, Wind's autocorrect changed "indeed" to "Indian", and, from there, a new inside joke emerged, wherein one may replace "indeed" with another, similar word for comic effect. It got very popular for a while but was then deemed kind if annoying and overused, so we toned it down.

Uncrustables[edit]

Fog mentioned on 3 Jidök 1 (October 23, 2018) that he was waiting for his Uncrustable to thaw. Thunder saw this, and was horrified: she professed that frozen Uncrustables were superior and that they should never be thawed. Thus sparked one of the only wars the tribe has ever known: The Great Uncrustable War. Luckily, there were no casualties, and a truce was made. However, Thunder and Fog still snipe at each other over Uncrustables from time to time.

Uncrustables have not become a significant part of the tribe's culture overall, but they have a lot to do with degenerativity.

Degenerativity[edit]

Degenerativity is uproarious, obnoxious, childlike behavior. Fog has defined it as "acting silly and out of control and having a blast". It is commonly associated with spamming the potato emoji and the various functions of the Wasphive.

Ţeţat (Wind) was the first to use the word "degenerativity" on 3 Ţefam 3 (October 25, 1:24 A.M.), to deride a fight about Uncrustables (which see, above). The term resurfaced to describe the short-lived channel #dadjokes-and-markov. After the channel was deleted, Thunder recreated it under the much more forward name #℥ɔ℥degenerativity.
